Assam Floods: The Kaziranga Chronicle

This year flood has caused great havoc in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park. Renown for One-Horned Rhinos, over 95 percent of the Park area were inundated in this year’s flood. Animals were forced to flee to highlands and take shelter even on highways. Many were rescued in critical conditions. Over 170 animals were rescued including four rhinos and tigers. But not all were lucky. Over 150 animals including 115 hog deer and 19 rhinos have died during the flood. With flood subsiding now, animals have once again returned to the park
